Bentley articles record profits to opt for record sales in 2021

To opt for the 14,695 Bentleys sold globally in 2021, the British luxury car maker has also announced record profits for the year. 
Bentley has revealed its operating profit in 2021 was £327 million, nearly double the previous record from 2014. Sales figures rose by 31 per cent, beating the previous record of 11,206 in 2020.

In regards to the figures, Adrian Hallmark, Chairman and CEO of Bentley Motors, said: “These results were achieved against a continued backdrop of economic uncertainty. They represent a major achievement for everybody involved at Bentley Motors, as we push forward with our Beyond100 programme to reinvent our entire product range in the build-up to carbon neutrality by 2030.”

Bentley’s sales growth of 31 per cent in 2021 is attributed to the continued success of the Bentayga SUV, now in its fifth year on sale and the recipient of a significant facelift last year. The model had its best year yet, and is now responsible for 40 per cent of all Bentley sales. The hybrid version of the marque’s luxury SUV now accounts for one in five Bentayga deliveries.
The Bentayga’s success has been noted, with Jan-Henrik Lafrentz, member of the Board for finance and IT at Bentley Motors adding: “Brand strength has been crucial to Bentley’s financial performance in 2021, with new models such as Bentayga hybrid helping to drive profit to a record €389 million. boosting demand for our hybridised models, supported by €3 billion of sustainable investment in our Crewe factory, will make sure we remain the benchmark maker in sustainable luxury mobility.”
Bentley’s turnover last year reached £2.39 billion, while its profits per luxury car rose by eight per cent over 2020.
The Americas and China continue to dominate as Bentley’s a lot of rewarding regions – 57 per cent of all Bentleys delivered in 2021 went to these markets. The UK accounted for a significant nine per cent of the marque’s sales in 2021 and growing by 14 per cent on 2020 figures. 
“This is our second record sales year in the successive years and is a positive sign of our brand strength,” said Bentley CEO Adrian Hallmark.
